A CCTV image has been released by police after a man was robbed in a supermarket.

At around 3.15pm on Tuesday, August 7, an incident took place at the Lidl supermarket in Bath Road.

The victim, a 22-year-old man, paid for his goods at a self-service checkout and left his wallet next to the machine.

The offender, who was standing next to the checkout, picked up the wallet and removed a quantity of cash before handing the wallet to a cashier.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Joanne Waites based at Newbury police station, said: “I am keen to speak to the man in this CCTV image, as he may have information which is vital to our investigation.
