A PRIMARY school celebrated its 150th birthday in style last week with all manner of exciting visitors.
On Monday, July 16, poet James Carter led workshops for each class at New Christ Church Primary School in Whitley.
Other notable attendees throughout the week including Rt Revd Andrew Proud, the bishop of Reading and Councillor Debs Edwards, town mayor.
The bishop led a service of celebration for the children inside the Victorian school hall while past pupils and staff were also welcomed to the festivities.
Dr Joanna Laynesmith, chair of governors, said: "Our school has a wonderfully strong sense of being a family who work together. This past couple of days have been a lovely opportunity to celebrate that and to set our sights on new goals for the future."
