Two women died as a result of the crash on A4 Bath Road in January

Ann Valley, 87, and Gwyneth DeCamps (formerly Dr Gwyneth Botherway), 88, were travelling in a Nissan Micra when it was in collision with a police dog-unit vehicle on the A4 Bath Road in Calcot on January 23.

Both women, from Slough, died as a result of the collision, sparking a major investigation by The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

The panel deemed the actions of the officer to be in line with what was expected and he was cleared of misconduct by the police watchdog.

Jonathan Green, IOPC regional director, said: "The consequences of this incident were tragic and my thoughts are with both families and all those affected.

"After conducting a thorough investigation we found that the officer's driving was in line with police policies for responding to emergency calls."

Mrs Valley is thought to have been driving the car and died at the scene on Bath Road.

The inquests for both women were opened and adjourned in February.

A coroner ruled that they died from blunt force trauma to the chest, as well as suffering multiple injuries.

IOPC Regional Director for the south east Sarah Green said: “My thoughts are with all of those affected by this tragic event.

“Our family liaison manager has met the families of Mrs Valley and Mrs DeCamps to offer our condolences and to tell them about our role and our investigation.

“We have placed witness appeal boards in the area and if anyone else can assist us to establish what happened, for the benefit of all of those affected, please make contact with our investigators.”

Paramedics assessed the two injured pensioners at the scene, but they were tragically declared dead shortly afterwards.

It is thought they were leaving the nearby golf course and pulling onto the A4 when they crashed into the police vehilce.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services made the area safe and cleared debris from crash.
