A FLASHER pretended to be a gas meter inspector before exposing himself to an unsuspecting female.

This was one of two incidents involving the same man, police believe, after a man exposed himself to a woman in Dark Lane, Tilehurst.

In the first incident, a man knocked on the door of a house in Tilehurst and claimed to be there to read the meter, before exposing himself to the female occupant.

Police have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to in the hope that the public will identify him to them.

Investigating officer PC Mike Wray, of the Investigation Hub based at Newbury Police Station, said: “We are investigating two incidents of exposure which we believe to be linked. I believe the man shown in the CCTV image will have important information to help us with our investigation.

“I would urge anyone who recognises the man in the picture to police, or if you are this man, please contact us by calling our non-emergency number 101.”

The first incident involving the man pretending to be a gas meter inspector occurred on Tuesday January 23, and the second incident occurred at 6.30pm on Monday May 28.
