The former journalist and attorney is renowned for exciting his dedicated readers with tales of crime and mystery.

He is the bestselling author of 35 novels, including the 2011 authorised James Bond thriller, Carte Blanche and three collections of short stories.

One lucky Chronicle reader will have the chance to meet Jeffery at the event.

“If you want the chance to win a signed copy, enter our competition with the Chronicle as one lucky reader will win a signed copy of ‘The Cutting Edge’ and the opportunity to meet Jeffery - subject to the event running to schedule.”

The Cutting Edge is available to purchase from May 17. The book centres around a triple-murder in New York and the efforts of Lincoln Rhyme to crack the case.

The killer leaves behind $500,000 worth of gems at the murder scene, a jewellery store and - when more crimes follow, it becomes clear that the killer’s target is not gems, but engaged couples.

The tagline for the book is: ‘The happiest time of your life will be your last.’

Waterstones Reading is also celebrating Forbury Fiesta, as part of Reading Children's Festival.
