THAMES Water has apologised to residents after many were left without water on Friday (May 4) night.

A problem at the Speen water treatment works left residents the RG14, RG17, and RG20 area with slow water pressure or no water at all.

The network has now been re-routed, meaning the issue should be resolved.

Water bottle collection points were set up for residents who were effected.

A tweet from Thames Water read: "We’re sorry to any customers in #RG14, #RG17, #RG18 and #RG20 who had no water or lower pressure than normal yesterday. This was due to a fault at our water treatment works in Speen which we’re working to resolve.

"We've rerouted our network and all customers should now see their supplies return, but this may be at a lower pressure whilst we continue to fix the fault. If you are still experiencing no water please contact us."

There are water bottle collection points set up at the following locations:

Sutton Village Hall, Church Road, RG20 8LN
The Casle at Donnington, Oxford Road, Newbury, RG14 3AA
The Castle School, Love Lane, Donnington, Newbury, RG14 2JG
Five Bells, Bayden Road, Wickham, Newbury, RG20 8HH
The Bell at Boxford, Lambourne Road, Speen, RG20 8DD.
