A FLYTIPPER who dumped his rubbish in a Bracknell carpark has been slapped with a hefty fine for his acts.

Joseph Symonds formerly of Wyresdale, Bracknell was ordered to pay £2,508 in fines and costs after the person he paid to recycle the rubbish left it all in the car park at Savernake Pond.

Symonds was found guilty of failing to comply with the duty of care required under the Environmental Protection Act where he failed to ensure the waste being flytipped by another person.

There was evidence found in the rubbish which related to a Surrey resident which led back to Symonds.

Symonds had paid the man to dispose of the rubbish at Longshot Lane Recycling Centre.

The flytipper told Reading Magistrates court that he had been paid £50 to dispose of the rubbish but then sold it on to someone else to do for him.

Steve Loudoun, chairman of the Public Protection Management Board, said: “This case demonstrates that using new powers under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Public Protection Partnership will pursue those who do not deal with waste correctly, whether or not they actually dump the waste.

"This fine sends a clear message to would-be perpetrators.
