A MAN has pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman in Newbury town centre.
Mark Singleton, 44, of Market Place, appeared at Reading Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, March 6 where he admitted one count of assault by beating.
The charge related to an incident on January 13 where Singleton assaulted a 56-year-old woman at a property in Market Place.
The woman suffered bruising to her arms, face and body.
Singleton was arrested and charged with the offence on the same day.
He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and a restraining order until March 5, 2020.
Investigating Officer, Detective Constable Andy Philpott, said, “I am pleased with the outcome of this case. This kind of offence will not be tolerated in the communities we live in. The restraining order is vital in safeguarding the victim.”
