A MAN has been jailed for three years for dangerous driving after causing a motorcyclist serious injuries.
Sohail Iqbal Khan, 24, of Leopold Walk, Reading, was jailed for three years and disqualified from driving for four years.
Having previously pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving whilst over the prescribed limit for drugs, and using a vehicle on a road without third party insurance, Khan was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday, February 28.
On March 31 last year, Khan's VW Adam collided with a 22-year-old motorcyclist in Earley, who suffered multiple injuries.
Investigating officer, PC Gareth Miles of Three Mile Cross Roads Policing Team, said, “On 31 March last year Sohail Iqbal Khan was driving a VW Adam car on the Wokingham Road at the junction of Amber Close, Earley, when he collided with a motorcyclist.
“When Khan collided with the motorcyclist, a 22-year-old man, the victim sustained a fractured right femur, fractured right tibia and fibula, fractures to his neck and lower back.
“This case shows the dangers of driving whilst being under the influence of illegal drugs. It has left a motorcyclist with serious life changing injuries. I am pleased that the courts have looked at this offence seriously and hopefully Mr Khan will have time to reflect on the consequences of his actions in March last year.”
