AS a commercial operator, Reading Buses must take unpleasant decisions such as axeing unprofitable routes.
Surprisingly, however, they have taken over another loss-making route. This is the 702 (Bracknell - Windsor - London), which the fomer operator gave up, citing ‘increasing costs’ making the route ‘unsustainable.’ In addition, and at the request of Slough Borough Council, Reading Buses are taking over three loss-making town routes. These routes have needed fresh vehicles and additional staff.
Surely Reading Buses should be concentrating its efforts in this area rather than overstretching its resources elsewhere.
