A SPECIALIST tyre firm was slapped with a hefty fine of more than £11,000 after failing to produce waste transfer notices.
Tyre Bay Newbury was the subject of an investigation by West Berkshire Council's waster team from February 2016.
Magistrates agreed the company had failed to comply with their duty or care and a fine was issued for two offences after representatives from Tyre Bay refused to attend court.
Dominic Boeck, the council's executive member for Waste said: “This penalty sends a clear message to businesses that they must comply with the law and ensure that the waste they produce is disposed of in the proper manner and with documentation to support this.
"These checks are an important part of waste management, ensuring that waste is not disposed of illegally, such as via fly-tipping.”
A fine of £6,000 was issued for failing in their duty of care and the company was also ordered to pay court costs of £5,014.50.
