THE COUNCIL is appealing for more foster carers to come forward to help meet the demand for young people who will need a secure home this year.

Aspiring foster carers receive training and mentoring from Reading Borough Council and receive £22,000 per year.

The council is launching a foster care recruitment campaign for 2018.

Applications can be made by single people or couples and you do not need to own your own home in order to be eligible.

Councillor Jan Gavin, lead member for Children’s Services, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may be interested in hearing more about becoming a foster carer, including the support available and the generous packages on offer.

“It might be one of the best decisions you ever make.”
