A YOUTH football club which was tricked into handing over thousands of pounds has received a generous donation.
Laurel Park FC continues to be shown community spirit after scammers took £28,000 intended for renovations.
Natalie Lambden, the community champion at Asda in Lower Earley, presented a cheque worth £1434 to the club to put towards new equipment.
The club lost £28,000 after the club's former treasurer was duped into making payments to people posing as club officials in April.
Reading FC and Wickes joined forces to help redecorate the club house and the annual community open day was attended by hundreds of people after the scamming incident.
Chairman Mike Bradshaw worked hard to secure the funding, which has been used to provide a new kit and equipment for our Under-16's Starz.
