A FURNITURE store has been put into administration, meaning jobs in the town's store could be at risk.

Multiyork, which sells items such as sofas and tables, has entered administration, and could subsequently close before the new year.

The chain employs 547 members of staff, including some in the Reading branch, which is in the Forbury retail park.

Any customers who made orders before November 22 will have their purchases honoured,

Duff & Phelps are the administrators for Multiyork, and are hopeful that they can find a buyer for the chain, in order to save hundreds of jobs.

A Duff & Phelps spokesman told the BBC: "Multiyork is still open for business, still trading - it's very early days for the administration.

"We're really hopeful we can find a buyer."

The management structure will remain in place during the administration period.
