A SPECIFIC witness who was wanted in connection with a fatal bus crash has come forward to police.

Howard Walker died after he was hit by a bus on Great Knollys Street on October 20 at around 11.45pm.

The 51-year-old man, from Thames & Kennet Marina, was identified by a coroner ahead of his inquest.

The driver of the bus stopped at the scene and nobody else was injured or on the bus at the time.

An appeal was made to locate a taxi driver who was travelling behind the bus.

Following the appeal, the witness has come forward, but the police continue to investigate.

The victim sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.

PC Naomi Hames, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I am continuing to appeal for anyone else who witnessed the collision or who saw the bus or pedestrian shortly before the collision to contact police.

"Anyone with any details which could assist the investigation, who has not already spoken to police, should come forward.

“I would like to thank the public and media for sharing our appeal to help to locate the specific witness.”

No arrests have been made in connection with the collision.
