A RUBBISH tip has been engulfed in flames, with firefighters battling to handle the blaze.
Firefighters from all across Reading were sent to the rubbish tip on the A33 at 10:50am on Sunday August 6.
The tip, which is run by RE3 recycling, confirmed that there were no casualties in the fire in a message posted on Twitter.
The message read: "Reading recycling centre is currently shut following a fire. Fire services have been in attendance. Safe evacuation & no casualties."
Reading Fire Station One confirmed the news that there were no injuries.
Firefighter McGuinnity said: "We were there, we sent about forty firefighters to the scene.
"Most of the Reading stations were sent, so it was quite a thorough job.
"It was just rubbish, nobody was hurt in the fire.
"I'm not sure how it started but there will be a full investigation."
