BUDDING artists came together for an exhibition at the Madejski Stadium.

The Children's Art Gallery saw more than 200 children from across Berkshire submit their favourite artwork for judging.

Free arts and crafts activities were organised between 1 and 4pm and Reading FC mascot Kingsley also made a special appearance and posed for pictures.

Councillor Rose Williams, mayor of Reading, presented certificates to the best designs and a total of £270 was raised for Daisy's Dream to help bereaved children.

Simone Fisher, one of the event organisers, said: "It was fantastic. There were more people than we ever expected. We were really pleased and this will be an annual event.

"The highlight must have been when the mayor presented the winners with their certificates."

The event was organised to support National Children's Art Week and pupils from Woodley C of E and Beechwood schools proved popular with the judges.

Pam's Cake House and a charity raffle played a key role in helping to raise money for the event's chosen charity.
