YOU must register to vote by Monday, May 22 if you want to vote in the General Election.
Reading Borough Council is reminding residents to register to ensure their vote counts at the June 8 election as new registration rules come into effect You can register to vote by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or you can request a paper form from the council.

Under the new system of Individual Electoral Registration (IER) introduced by Government, every individual is now responsible for registering themselves to vote.
Previously, one person in every household was responsible for registering everyone else who lives at that address.
People who want to vote in the 2017 General Election by post need to be registered under IER.
The Electoral Services Team have to receive completed and signed postal vote application forms by 5pm on Tuesday May 23 at the latest.
