THE wedding of the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister could be gatecrashed by Berkshire royalists.
Pippa Middleton will marry millionaire banker James Matthews at St Mark’s Church in Englefield on May 20.
Church of England guidelines on celebrity weddings state that members of the public have the right to attend the service at the twelfth century church.
The rules, published earlier this month, read: 'A marriage is a public ceremony which at the least all parishioners are entitled to attend'.
Although the church sits on Newbury MP Richard Benyon’s private estate, lawyers have said a footpath must be provided to allow parishioners to cross the property.
Andrew House, chairman of the Bradfield parish council, told The Sunday Telegraph: “It's a rather nice thought that they might be able to attend. I'm sure there will be interest.”
Non-Englefield residents who want a slice of the action will be able to come along if they plan to raise a genuine concern about the marriage, such as one of the couple being underage.
