A BRAVE runner is hoping to raise vital funds for cancer after losing her auntie.
Emma Fountain is running the London Marathon this weekend in hope of raising £4,000 for Breast Cancer Now.
In January 2015, following a netball match, Emma noticed she had a pea sized lump in her breast.
She was later told that she had breast cancer, and that it had already spread to her lymph nodes.
Emma said: “I’m running to show what my body can do, and to prove how far I’ve come since my diagnosis."
The disease runs in the family, after her mum was diagnosed with breast cancer three years before her and her auntie sadly died from the illness.
She added: “I’ve got a niece and I don’t want her to have to go through this. That’s why Breast Cancer Now and their research is so important, the more we know the better”.
Emma had put on two stone after a long spell of treatment, which she wanted to lose and so she started running.
She said she would sign up for the London marathon to prove that despite having cancer, she can take control of her body.
