THE eighth annual Reading Contemporary Art Fair promises ‘real art for real people’ when it returns later this month.

The show offers something for everyone from seasoned collectors to first time buyers.

One of the highlights of this year’s calendar the Reading Contemporary Art Fair is a can’t miss event for art lovers from around the region.

More than 130 artists, including painters, ceramicists, photographers, sculptors and glass artists, will be exhibiting at the Fair, to be held at Rivermead Leisure Complex on April 22 and 23 Organiser Deborah James of Windsor Events says: “The Art Fair is a fantastic opportunity to pick up a piece of original artwork for your home or office.

“The event is ideal for all art lovers, art collectors, interior designers or new home owners. In fact, anyone who would like to choose from a wide range of works by living artists.”

“This really is the friendliest art fair, with plenty to see and do, including workshops, interactive art projects, children’s questionnaires, café and wine tasting.

“There’s no pressure to buy, though most visitors find something they fall in love with and want to take home.”

Reading Chronicle:

She advised potential buyers not to narrow down their options before they arrive.

She continued: “You will see things that will blow you away, but they may not always be what you expected to like.

“For example, if you like ‘traditional’ or representative art, be ready to look at things that are more modernistic or abstract.

“Or consider different forms, such as sculpture, glass, ceramics or amazing photographs.

“Talking to the artists can often help you understand their art or ideas, so it’s worth taking the time to explore that angle.

“The main thing is not to be shy about saying you don’t ‘get’ it – just ask politely.”
