YOUNG scientist have been given a taste of working at one of the country's most prestigious institutions.
Pupils were invited to learn more about hi-tech laser experiments carried out AWE research labs.
Dr Matthew Hill invited North Waltham Primary School children to learn more about his work at the nuclear weapons base.
He said: “Space exploration and astrophysics have been a real passion of mine for as long as I can remember, and motivated me to do a physics degree at the University of Sussex and then a PhD at the University of Leeds.
"I know that the work we do helps to keep our country safe and gives me a sense of purpose in addition to all the amazing science.”
The school's science club were invited to the site as part of national science week. Other events included freezing objects with subzero liquid nitrogen.
