A WOMAN was robbed and threatened with what she believed to be a knife late last night on the Oxford Road.

The 18-year-old was walking towards the town centre with another woman when they noticed a man was following them at around 11.55pm.

When they were close to the Oxford Road Pharmacy he took her bag and produced the suspected weapon before running off towards Western Elms Avenue.

He was last seen in Bath Road, near Southcote Lane, close to where the discarded handbag was found, with the woman's phone missing.

No one was injured during the robbery but Thames Valley Police has today released this CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the incident.

A force spokesman said: "The offender is white, tanned, in his mid twenties to early thirties, slim build, with black curly hair. He was wearing a black leather jacket, dark jeans and dark shoes.

"Police would like to speak to the man in the CCTV image as he may have information which could help with the investigation.

"If you have any information about the incident please call the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101."
