OFFICE workers have been left without power this morning after a fire took out part of their power system.

The blaze broke out in an electrical cupboard at the Jacobs building in Winnersh Triangle at around 3am today.

Three fire crews rushed to the scene after an automatic alarm in the building was triggered.

Two firefighters in breathing apparatus doused the flames using a co2 fire extinguisher.

Watch manager Dave Dodd of Wokingham Road fire station said: "It was in a small power room and the fire was enclosed but it was a bit smoky outside.

"We used a co2 extinguisher and sent in two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

"The damage did not spread but they will probably have computer problems while the parts are replaced."

Firefighters put the cause of the blaze down to an electrical fault.

Staff at the office said computers, heaters, phones and lifts were all out of action this morning.
