FIREFIGHTERS remain on scene after a blaze broke out in a Whitley workshop.
The industrial building caught alight in the early hours of the morning and crews battled through the night to contain the fire.
The majority of the flames have been contained to one unit in the terraced block at Cradock Road but as the building contained gas cylinders it is expected crews will remain on scene throughout the morning.
No one was injured in the flames but a road block is in place while firefighters - who have been in attendance since 4.45am - continue their work.
Watch manager Basil Cranmer from Caversham Road fire station said: "There was quite a bit of damage structurally.
"It was a series of workshops but was contained to one unit."
At the height of the incident there were six pumps in action using four breathing apparatus and an aerial unit to douse the flames.
