POLICE remain on the scene at a Caversham home where a man has died this afternoon.

Officers were called to a house in Chiltern Road at around 3pm today following reports of concern for the welfare of a man.

Upon arrival at the property a man was found deceased.

His death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious at this time.

Neighbours described seeing crowds of people outside a Caversham home when emergency services rushed in this afternoon.

A resident, who didn't wish to be named, said: "There were police cars and two small ambulances.

"I saw lots of people standing outside in the road having a look."

Det Sgt Elton Evans from Reading police station said: "Officers were called to a property in Chiltern Road, Caversham just after 3pm today to reports of a fear for welfare of a man.

"A man was found deceased at the scene.

"Officers are investigating the circumstances of the death which is currently being treated as unexplained. At this time the death is not thought to be suspicious."

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We were called by police at 15.21 today and sent an ambulance officer and a rapid response vehicle but we cannot say more than that at this time."
