A MAN was seen skipping away from a woman he reportedly sexually assaulted in Reading last week. 

At around 6.50pm on Friday 6, a 37-year-old woman was in Pell Street at a bus stop when she was approached by a man who touched her inappropriately from behind and then skipped away.

He was then seen touching another woman inappropriately nearby before making off.

The incident was reported by a witness and the victim has yet to come forward and speak to the police. 

Police would like to contact her in order to check on her welfare.

In another attack on Thursday 5 in Southampton Street, a 20-year-old woman bent down to tie her shoes when she was approached by a man who grabbed her before running off. 

The victim stumbled but was not injured. 

Police are linking these latest incidents to a sexual assault which took place in Church Street at around 8pm on Saturday 31 October.

The offender in all the incidents is Asian, approximately 5ft 6ins, aged in his twenties, with short black hair.

Investigating officer, Det Con Alan Mcilwain from Reading CID said: “It is concerning that there have been a number of reports of sexual assault in Reading town centre over the past few days.

“We are investigating and I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed these offences or who has any information about who the offender or offenders might be.

“At this stage we believe the offences are linked, but we are keeping an open mind.

“I would also like to speak to the woman who was assaulted in Pell Street, who has not yet come forward to police.”

A 20-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault on a female and bailed until December 4.
