FIREFIGHTERS rescued a family's dog after a small kitchen fire broke out at a home in Tilehurst this morning.
A passerby saw smoke billowing out of the family home on Bradwell Road at around 9.30 am, and alerted the fire service to the property.
Firefighters burst into the home and rescued the family's dog.
The owner had accidently left a pan on before leaving the property.
Firefighter Mark Gower of Dee Road said: "We were alerted by a passerby who saw smoke coming out of the house. We took the dog to a vets which was just down the road from the property and had him checked out."
