A MAN attacked with a glass bottle in the Wokefield Park Hotel has prompted a police appeal for information.

At around 5.55pm on March 22 the victim, whose age is unknown, was in the main bar of the hotel when he was approached by another man and assaulted.

A group of around four men joined the offender and kicked and punched the victim to the floor.

A member of staff intervened and was also hit with the glass bottle.

The victim sustained lacerations and cuts to the face and head but has since been discharged from the Royal Berkshire Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

The first offender is white, aged 25 to 30 years, stocky with brown hair which may have been shaved at the sides with a Mohican or spikes on top. He was wearing suit trousers, a white shirt and a blue or lilac waistcoat.

He also had light coloured sunglasses on his head.

Sgt Stewart Codling from Newbury Police Station said: “There were between 300 and 500 people attending an organised boxing event at Wokefield Park Hotel at the time of this incident and CCTV footage shows around 50 or 60 people in the main bar area when the assault happened.

“It is likely that a number of these people will have witnessed the incident and may even have mobile phone footage or photographs of what happened."

He added: “Although we have CCTV footage and witness accounts of the first victim being assaulted, he has not come forward to speak to us yet. I would urge him to contact police as soon as possible so we can check on his welfare."
