A PUB is now unrecognisable after undergoing a £275,000 overhaul in just two and a half weeks.

Once a dark haunt for locals, Pavlov’s Dog, which has just opened after closing for the facelift, is now a fresh, versatile space offering a new menu and services.

General manager, Natalie Cook, said: “I cried when I came in, I just couldn’t believe it was the same place, it just looks like a completely different pub.”

The pub, at St Mary’s Butts, has been modelled after “third space theory”, which aims to mix reality with the virtual.

Complete with a Secret DJ app — allowing customers to select their favourite songs — USB and computer ports and in-house printing, Pavlov’s Dog is not just a space for eating and drinking, but also for socialising, working and playing.

To maximise the use of the space, the menu signs hanging above the bar area can be rotated from the coffee grab-and-go menu in the early morning to cocktail deals for when the sun goes down.

There is a dedicated games area complete with pool table and numerous board games are dotted around the space.

The outside area has also had a makeover, with comfortable sofas, artificial grass, heated canopies and a TV screen.

The menu has been given a facelift, serving quick and easy street-style food, from traditional burgers and wraps to macaroni cheese. Platters offer mini versions of the classic dishes served with sides.

Open daily from 8am, Pavlov’s Dog will close at midnight on Sunday-Thursday and 2am on Fridays and Saturdays.

Pavlov’s Dog now offers a rotating selection of craft beers. With its new loyalty card scheme, customers can earn points for purchases or posting about the pub on social media, which are then translated into cash to spend in the pub.
