TWO lanes of the M4 have been closed after a car collided with a lorry and the central reservation this afternoon.

Police were called at 3pm to the M4 between junction 12 for Theale and junction 13 for Chieveley after a Volkswagen Passat collided with the lorry, and the third lane in both directions has been closed.

Firefighters from Caversham Road, Newbury and Whitley Wood removed the roof of the car to free the trapped passengers in the Volkswagen.

Paramedics were also called, but the two people in the Volkswagen Passat were not thought to be seriously injured, while the lorry driver was unharmed.
