Oh decisions, decisions! You have been lumbered with organising a night out and there is so much to consider. How will you get there, is it too far, is there enough room, what’s the food like, will everyone like it, can we just have a drink and something light, how much will it cost? Thank goodness for Barts Restaurant and Bar on the Wokingham Road.

Visiting as a party of two, we were made to feel very welcome throughout. With such a vast menu to choose from and such large portions on offer, we chose to share a starter to save room for main courses. The incredible buffalo mozzarella and tomato starter is a real treat and the perfect starter for any meal.

The ‘create you own main course’ option with a choice of extra potatoes, vegetables and breads or salads, proved to be an excellent opportunity to sample the fantastic menu, especially considering my large appetite! I chose to try the ‘chilli infused rump steak (rare)’ with a roasted pepper and sweet chilli topping – with sides of chunky chips and a side salad – an excellent choice with the chilli not too potent, allowing the taste of the top quality steak to come through.

We also chose to try a grilled fish dish, indulging in the grilled Scottish salmon served with parsley potatoes and buttered broad beans – a fantastic dish.

Resisting the temptation of the option to order ‘extra meat’ left just enough room for us to enjoy a pudding each, choosing the sticky toffee pudding and the New York cheesecake, each served with vanilla ice cream – the perfect end to a fantastic meal.

Barts has a innovative and varied menu with choices to appeal to every taste. It is clear to see why they are renowned for their steaks, served fresh off the grill, but there are some delicious vegetarian dishes and starters and I can assure you; the puddings aren’t

bad either!

If your party is dining on a budget there is a special two course menu priced at just £12.95 at lunchtime and £15.95 in the evening. Your party can even choose if they want a starter and main or a main and a dessert.

They have three dining rooms which can accommodate parties from four to 40 guests and they can be set up to meet your requirements. They are also all air conditioned for your comfort.

Now to the thorny subject of who will drive or how much the cab will cost. Fortunately Barts will collect up to four diners from a single location and take them home again for a total of just £7.50. Problem solved.

So the next time you have to organise a do, why not let Barts do the hard bit so you can just enjoy it like the rest of the party.
