A BANGER racing company will tightened up safety rules after a first time driver suffered a head on collision.
Fleet Motorclub will ban novice contestants from entering its destruction derby races after rookie driver Simon Roberts was in collision with another vehicle at Aldermaston Raceway, Paices Hill, at 4.30pm yesterday (Sunday).
Crews from Dee Road fire station spent nearly an hour freeing the 21-year-old who suffered a broken nose and knee injuries and was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford.
He was due to be released as the Midweek went to press on Monday [04].
It follows a crash there on March 6 where a driver suffered back injuries after spinning off the track.
