The most exciting event to take place in Hollywood this month is of course the arrival of William and Kate on July 8. I am very excited to hear that the fabulous couple will be staying just blocks from my house at the British Consul-General's Residence in Hancock Park.

I was at that very house just a few weeks back attending a red carpet event for the launch of BritWeek and I'm sure the lovely Consul-General Dame Barbara Hay will make a wonderful host in this pretty and historic part of town.

Hollywood is naturally excited to see what Berkshire's very own Kate

will be wearing out on the red carpet.

Surprisingly, this is Kate's first trip to the US so I'm sure she is just as excited about this trip as we are to have her here!

Her stately poise and classic elegance have made her 'The Royal Icon to Watch' and there certainly will not be a lack of media attention during their jam-packed schedule. Prince William is expected to play Polo at the Santa Barbara Polo Club - I had my first ever polo lesson there once and it's one of the most stunning courses I've ever seen - if you have a spare $4,000 for a VIP ticket then you, too, could be rubbing shoulders with the Royals.

However, for the Duke and Dutchess, the focus of this trip is not to rub shoulders with celebs (even I've found that decidedly difficult) but to 'connect young British talent with Hollywood decision makers'.

The highlight of their stay will be a glitzy black tie BAFTA reception. The $25,000 per-table event is now "essentially sold out", according to one organiser. No surprises there.

Well, Los Angeles is heating up! So my advice to William and Kate is slap on the sunscreen. If I wasn't so busy recording my album this month I'd love to join in on all the fun!

More fun and frolics from life in Hollywood next month!
