Former Windsor schoolboy Alex Beaumont returns to his hometown as leading man in a major touring musical when he stars in the sequel to the smash-hit production Dreamboats and Petticoats.

Alex Beaumont, who attended Windsor Boys’ School, plays the lead role of ‘Bobby’ in Dreamboats and Miniskirts, at Theatre Royal Windsor.

Alex, who also attended Clewer Green First School and Dedworth Middle School, studied at the Arden School of Theatre in Manchester. He is also a former member of Royal Borough Youth Opera and Berkshire Youth Choir.

Since graduating, his credits include ‘Ben Travers’ in Being Ivor with the Original London Workshop Cast, ‘Prince Valentine’ in the UK tour of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and ‘Aladdin’ in Aladdin and his Magic Lamp. Alex also reached the final stage of Bootcamp as part of pop group Universal Squared on series 7 of X Factor.

His latest role demonstrates Alex’s abilities as an actor and singer, and is his first lead role in a major touring musical.

Alex, 26, said: “The character of Bobby, well, I do identify with him, I have a little soft spot for him, which makes me want to play him. We’re similar because we’re typical boys, we don’t really think about things, like girls feelings – an ignorant boy.”

The tour opened in Windsor and so this is Alex’s second time of performing to a home crowd.

He added: “I’m really looking forward to going back to Windsor and seeing all my hometown crowd. And that’s what made the first time round so special – we were opening a new show, it was the first time I’d played a lead and it was in my hometown theatre, so that was really amazing.

“All my family will be there, as well as extended families, aunties and uncles, they’re all still quite local to the area. And my grandparents, regardless of where the show is, they’ll come and see me. They’ve been to Cardiff, all over the place. They’re my super fans.”

Dreamboats and Miniskirts is a show filled with music, humour and nostalgia, and features a host of 60s hits such as Twist and Shout, Handy Man, Pretty Woman and One Fine Day.

It runs at Windsor, Theatre Royal from Monday until March 21.
