READING has been named as one of the worst places to live in the country twice in the same survey.

The Berkshire town has been ranked the 12th worst place to live in England, in a new poll which was conducted by the satirical website 'I Live Here,' after 67,955 people voted.

In 2021, the town was rated 39th worst place to live so has moved up the ratings by 27 places in two years.

However, in what must be a error the town was also rated the 21st worst place to live in the same list.

The site urges people to ‘stay far, far away, and quiver in fear’ from the town adding that the nightlife is ‘the worst thing I have ever experienced’ and the Primark in Broad Street is a ‘warzone’.

However, Reading was not the only Berkshire town to be on the list as Slough came in at number four, whilst Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire was at five and Abingdon in Oxfordshire being at number 31.

Despite the ratings of the town, not all locals agree and neither do we!

Reading has a huge amount to shout about with the buzz of many businesses looking to our town to set up shop, plus a huge amount of investment coming this way for local leisure opportunities, and a rich diversity that creates a community to be proud of.

Speaking to The Reading Chronicle to shine positives on the town, readers stated they love everything from the Thames, nearby Dinton Pastures Country Park near Woodley and Prospect Park to the jazz and comedy scene, the general community and the good shopping.
