A pavilion in a park near Reading was burnt down in a suspected arson attempt, according to police.

The blaze has charred the stand, seating area, and covered the floor with ash in Arborfield Park, rendering it unusable

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to extinguish at Swallowfield Road on Saturday (May 21) evening.

“We are treating the incident as arson and are carrying out a number of enquiries, including taking statements from a number of witnesses,” said a spokesperson for Thames Valley Police.
