Master illusionist and magician James More will be coming to Newbury’s Corn Exchange and is offering a chance to get ‘up close and personal’ with magic.

Speaking to The Guide, James said: “I notice a lot on TV there’s a lot of television cheating going on.

“I’m not going to name names but there is not a lot of live performances. My show is a great opportunity for people to see magic up close and personal. I love the drama and stage effects – it’s all about creating drama.”

The 25-year-old shot to fame appearing on Britain’s Got Talent in 2013, wowing the judges with a gravity and death-defying stunt.

With the help of assistants James lies flat on the point of a sword, then with the assistants’ help he starts spinning. Eventually the blade spikes through his body – appearing to impale his torso.

This audition was followed by a number of other tricks including flaming spikes and more danger can be expected at his Newbury performance.

“The main stunts in my shows are always with an element of danger. I don’t want to say specifics but I can promise that the audience will be on the edge of their seats.”

The Youtube video of his BGT audition has since gone viral, watched more than 32m times and James said: “Britain’s Got Talent certainly did help my career. Before I did the show, magic was an easy target to take the mickey out of [for the judges].

“If something goes wrong it can be funny – there has to be a certain amount of discipline with this stuff and it takes a lot of practice.”

Since appearing on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, James has evolved in his career and appeared as the Special Guest on Diversity’s Limitless Tour and has travelled the world in the one of the largest and one most successful touring magic shows, The Illusionists 2.0.

As well as appearing on BGT, James also performed on ITV’s Penn and Teller’s ‘Fool Us’.
