A GROUP of aspiring performers are set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of a hit musical.

The Sainsbury Singers are preparing to star in Return to the Forbidden Planet at Leighton Park School, from today to Saturday.

The musical is a combination of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ and the 1950s sci-fi classic flim ‘Forbidden Planet’.

Speaking to The Midweek, Matthew Smith, who plays Captain Tempest, said: “We have great rock and roll songs such as Great Balls of Fire and Born To Be Wild.

“The support and dialogue is fantastic and the sound is amazing.”

Louise Quelch, who plays the ever-enigmatic Science Officer Gloria, said: “Return to the Forbidden Planet is unlike any of the other shows I’ve been in. For a start, it’s set on board a spaceship and is interspersed with famous Shakespearean quotes; it’s such a funny show.”

All performances start at 7.30pm tickets start from £10. Guests can purchase three tickets for the price of two on the opening night.
