THE BBC have shown their support for Reading Festival over the years and are back with plenty of coverage again this year.

Radio One’s Greg James will be hosting his show live from Reading Festival on Friday, August 27, from 1-4pm.

Greg said: “I can’t wait! I’ve never actually been to Reading before, it’s one to tick off my list.

“We’re going to have an audience in and soak up a bit of the atmosphere really. We’re hoping to speak to some acts and paint as many festival pictures as possible.

“I’m looking forward to it. It’s one of those shows where I can wander around. I’m going to try and go on a buggy around the site.”

Radio One’s Huw Stevens will also be broadcasting live from the festival on both Saturday and Sunday from 1-4pm. Music lovers can watch all the best bits, performances and interviews from the festival on BBC Three, presented by Edith Bowman and Reggie Yates.

Greg thinks that Reading Festival is a great event for Radio One to get involved with, and said: “It’s definitely a younger crowd and that is why Radio One like to support it.

“Glastonbury had headliners for older people but Reading is a festival you go to when you’re 15 or 16. There are some really good acts.”

The BBC Introducing Stage is back this year and will see three acts from Reading perform - Amy’s Ghost, Midimidis and Mr Fogg along with many more unsigned acts. Greg added: “I’ve discovered lots of great new bands watching stuff from the BBC Introducing Stage online. I discovered Stornoway at Glastonbury this year and Everything Everything who will be at Reading again. I picked them as record of the week this week because they’re brilliant. Some really good stuff comes out of it.”

Greg’s top tips to make the most of the festival experience are: “Take Monday off work, which is one I always forget to do; just realise that you won’t see most of the stuff you wanted to see; also, go and see stuff you wouldn’t normally see. Flit between the different stages.”
