FOLLOWING Simply Red's sell out performance at Newbury Racecourse last year, the band have announced they will return for this year's Party In The Paddock.

As part of their 'Live on a Summer's Night' tour, Simply Red are the first band confirmed to perform after the racing on Friday, July 9.

Front man Mick Hucknall said: "Newbury Racecourse gave us a great reception last summer and we're looking forward to coming back.

"It was a great event and everyone had an awesome time, it's a real pleasure to play at these sorts of gigs."

Simply Red's career spans three decades, with 10 studio albums, more than 30 top 40 UK singles, and awards including 3 Brits, 2 Ivor Novellos and a Mobo Special Achievement.

Harriet Rochester, Marketing & PR Manager for Newbury Racecourse, said: "The performance last August from Simply Red was one of the largest events at Newbury Racecourse in modern history and we're delighted to be welcoming them back.

"Our Party In The Paddock events are growing in popularity every year. It's a great day out for fans of racing, sport and music."

Tickets for July 9's Party In The Paddock are now on sale, more acts are due to be announced soon.
