YOUNGSTERS can unleash their musical talents and pick up new skills thanks to the return of a community project.

Music Fusion will re-launch at the Silverdale Centre in Earley on Wednesday, July 2, from 7.30pm.

Teenagers aged between 13 and 18 can try out guitars, drum kits, keyboards and DJ equipment, as well as making use of a recording studio.

Earley Town Council assumed control of the centre last year after Wokingham Borough Council announced plans to close it as it looked to identify key youth hubs.

Cllr Michael Firmager, amenities and leisure leader at Earley Town Council, said: “There was a lot of uncertainty about what would be happening at the centre, and we want people to know it’s still in great use.

“The project wasn’t as well promoted in the past as it should have been.”

Town clerk Philip Truppin added: “In particular, we would like to encourage those who do not have access to music at home to come along and try out what is available.”
