THESPIANS and theatre lovers swooped into east Reading as a celebrated troupe of actors put the finishing touches to their latest production.

Members of the Woodley Light Operatic Society trod the boards at the Museum of English Rural Life (MERL) last week when they donned costumes for a final run through of their interpretation of Calamity Jane.

The production follows the story of the legendary American character, who prides herself on being bolder and braver than any man in the Wild West.

The Deadwood Stage, Just Blew in from the Windy City, and Secret Love are well known numbers featured in the ever popular musical.

The production has been directed by Lee Anderson and choreographed by Jane Murphy, with Amy Bingham as the musical director. It will run from June 11-14 at the Kenton Theatre in Henley. Performances start at 7.45pm.

Tickets cost £14-15, with concessions available, and can be bought from www.woodleylightoperatic.ticketsource.co.uk or by calling 0333 666 3366.
