X FACTOR semi-finalist Danyl Johnson, from Arborfield, performed a 50 minute show at Sub 89 last week.

The venue was bursting with mothers and daughters and their were even a few fans dressed in Danyl T-shirts.

Three support bands got the crowd going. The first, Joe Robbins, performed an acoustic set which mixed slow and upbeat songs well.

The Velvet Heart performed a jazzy set, featuring an excellent cover of Bob Dylan’s Make You Feel My Love and Eliza Doolittle’s Pack Up.

The Quotes rocked the stage and really warmed the crowd up before the star of the show entered.

Danyl stormed on the stage with an air of confidence he never had on the TV reality show.

He danced around the stage and leaned into the crowd at every opportunity.

Danyl introduced his new rocky style and sang his own songs, including Overboard, Give Me A Line and Beautiful Life.

He said: “It’s great to sing songs that aren’t Man In The Mirror.”

Danyl made it clear that he was trying to distance himself from the show and before singing I Don’t Want To Be said the lyrics were ‘very appropriate right now’.

All in all Danyl has turned into a great performer with fantastic stage presence and an enthusiastic fan base.
