WHILE Ted Tally's work takes many liberties with the actual events surrounding Robert Falcon Scott's fatal attempt to be the first man to reach the South Pole it is, nevertheless, a gripping tale and Woodley Theatre's production kept us riveted to our seats as the play unfolded.
Scott (Glynn Oram) and his party elected to do the 'gentlemanly' thing by travelling across Antarctica on foot only to find they were beaten in their endeavour by Roald Amundsen's party using sleds pulled by dogs that enabled them to travel greater distances each day.
Praise is due to everyone involved in this presentation that completely captured the awesome bravery of the poorly-equipped voyagers on their ill-fated expedition.
The play's title is, of course, a reference to the explorer's supply ship.
