Review: The Circus Of Horrors

That's gotta sting: Hannibal Helmurto.

SCARY, sexy, scandalous and stomach churning, the Circus of Horrors turned more than a few heads when it rolled into town.

Celebrating its fifteenth year in the business, the motley crew of skeletons, dwarves and vampires led by 'undead' ringmaster Doktor Haze spiced up their act by taking over an ancient Aztec burial ground to unleash a fast-flowing freak show of blood-curdling stunts and acrobatics.

A fork-tongued sword swallower showed off his surgically broken ribs before shoving knives down his gullet and a leather-clad couple whipped straws from each others' mouths with precision.

Meanwhile devilish dwarf El Capitan insisted on dropping his trousers at every opportunity, and beautiful blonde Anastasia climbed samurai sword-like stairs.

But despite a promise of blood, guts and bodily fluids galore, it was a little tamer than last year's extravaganza.

Although rock 'n' roll band The Interceptors From Hell were on form, the storyline was utterly irrelevant with a troupe of so-called Aztec warriors, who dived through a hoop of fire, looking suspiciously like Zulus.

But no-one could fault the slender brunette who wound her waistline with 20 sparkling hoola hoops and El Capitan caused many to blink in disbelief when he opened a bottle of beer with his eye socket.

Overall the show was a howl from start to finish, though not as loud as last year.
