A truly trumpeting TREAT
The Elephant Hotel describes itself as 'quirky luxury' and it really lives up to that reputation. The hotel is covered in Indian designs and elephant shaped candles, inspired by the owners' trip to India.
Although there is a bistro style bar in which to relax, called BarBa, it is the restaurant Christoph's which really stands out and is renowned for its local menu under the expert guidance of new head chef Chris Prow.
The restaurant launched its game menu on October 18, offering a range of fresh dishes, including hare, roast pheasant and venison, for £15.95 for one course and £19.95 for two courses.
The restaurant has a very intimate atmosphere with couples sitting under candlelight by the large bay windows. Lots of large groups also wine and dine there, including Christmas parties and even weddings.
The restaurant is busiest at the weekend, with many customers taking advantage of the Sunday wine and dine offer, where if guests spend a minimum of £75 in the restaurant they can stay overnight in the hotel for free.
Mr Prow is happy to provide gluten and wheat free food, and guests booking in large groups are encouraged to declare any allergies in advance.
When my dining partner and I arrived, we were welcomed by hospitable and friendly staff who immediately rushed to take our coats and fetch us drinks.
