CROWTHORNE Symphony Orchestra's Autumn Concert will be proudly hosted by Wellington College on Saturday, November 27, writes Tom Flanagan.
The concert's centrepiece is the Bruch Violin Concerto Number One, which will feature soloist Sarah Sew (pictured), leader of the European Union Youth Orchestra. Sarah, from Winnersh, has received numerous prizes, including the distinguished Emanuel Hurwitz Award for an outstanding UK violinist.
Sarah started playing the violin at seven through the Berkshire Young Musicians Club (now Maestros), and is looking forward to returning to her roots.
The concert will be filled with a mix of readily recognisable and less well known music, including Liszt's Les Preludes and Chabrier's Joyeuse Marche. Musical director, Robert Roscoe, said: "People enjoy hearing familiar works as well as being introduced to some they haven't encountered before. Everyone will recognise the Bruch, and the beautiful flute solo which opens the Debussy, but people may not know the Poulence."
Tickets, costing £8 or £10 on the door, from Bookends in Wokingham, Traveltime in Crowthorne High Street or at www.crowthorneorchestra.com
