ALL the way from Nashville, Tennesse, 21-year-old Caitlin Rose is making the journey across the Atlantic to the UK with the release of her debut album Own Side Now.
Caitlin sings about an evolving country and her album has been received with much excitement, achieving album of the week in The Sunday Times, The Independent, The Independent On Sunday and The Evening Standard.
Caitlin said: "I am pleased with how the albums done here, who wouldn't be? No one really expects their own album to do badly anyway.
"There are three co-written tracks on the album so most of the songs are all mine.
"Being in the studio was cool as I like making records. The studio was great and putting it all together was easy really. It only took about one week of recording."
The singer has performed all over the BBC, doing sessions for the likes of Lauren Laverne, Marc Riley and Bob Harris. She also made waves performing on BBC Two's The Late Review last month.
Caitlin started getting into music when she was just 16, and said: "All my friends were in punk bands so I used to go along and watch them at punk shows. I started opening from them and it went from there. I found it very therapeutic, but then most things are therapeutic when you're only 16.
"I never made the decision to be a singer I just kept doing it. I don't think of singing any differently now as when I was doing it then."
Caitlin completed a two-week tour last month which took her around most of the UK, including Manchester and Wales. But the singer will return to our shores in a few weeks supporting Nashville's leftfield music royalty Kurt Wagner and Cortney Tidwell on a European tour. And this time Caitlin will travel to Reading for one night only.
She said: "I've never been to Reading before. I passed through it but that's it. I don't know what to expect.
"UK audiences are very quiet and respectful and they always have an opinion. Sometimes it's useful to have opinions and I like it, but not when I'm in a terrible mood."
Caitlin, who is currently touring around Europe, will be performing at South Street Arts Centre on Thursday, November 18, as part of the Twisted Folk line up.
Caitlin is headlining the event and will be supported by newcomers from Minneapolis Peter Wolf Crier as well as Manchester-based Hannah Peel.
Hannah will start the show at 7.50pm, the Peter Wolf Crier duo will take to stage at 8.35pm, followed by the star of the show Caitlin at 9.40pm.
Caitlin said: "The Reading show will have a full band, apart from the piano. It will be a great show. I'll either be drunk or lively, one of the two. It will be really fun I'm sure."
