BLUES won’t get much ‘badder’ than when a group of six musicians take to the stage in Ascot to play a string of hit songs, on Friday, November 26, writes Hannah Masters-Waage.
The Baddest Blues Band boasts some of the funkiest musicians on the blues, jazz and rock circuit and will come to Jagz, in Station Hill, to play classic songs from the likes of Ray Charles, Nina Simone and Willie Dixon. The band will also play original tunes among the hit covers.
Featuring drummer Paul Robinson, who played with Nina for the last 15 years of her career, and bass player Malcom Creese, who has supported the likes of Cleo Laine, George Benson and Sting, the band brings with it a distinct and individual sound and virtuoso performances.
Lead singer Zoe Schwarz has been performing on the jazz and blues scene for several years. She writes songs for the band, as does guitarist Rob Koral and some of these original tunes will be performed.
The night will also feature harmonica player Si Genaro and Peter Whittaker on the Hammond organ.
For tickets, costing £10, go online and visit www.jagz.co.uk or call the Jagz box office on 01344 878100.
